TCMG Film
Communications Consultant and Film Director Alastair Simmons (of TASKSCAPE ASSOCIATES Ltd), based in the Eden Valley of Cumbria, is working members of the TCMG on some short films about mills and milling. Alastair has an impressive track record in the media business, having worked with the BBC and recently funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to make films in Africa about practical approaches to food security, so that small holder farmers can get the best from their land to produce food for local needs and conditions. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Cumbria and is involving two second year students, Caz Cleary and Kate Wenborn, from the Film and Television Production course in researching and producing the films. Cameraman and accomplished climber Matt Sharman is also based in Cumbria. The films will demonstrate our traditional mills and reflect some of the human stories behind them – featuring the people who are so committed to keeping them milling now and who can see their potential clearly. Several TCMG mills will be featured, as well as a Dutch mill, to illustrate and demonstrate the different attitudes to mills and milling in the two countries.
The film will be released on this website towards the end of July...so watch this space !
